An American original; War was the first and most successful musical crossover phenomenon that forever fused rock, jazz, latin, and R&B, while transcending racial and cultural barriers with a mult-ethnic line-up. Most widely recognized for their contributions to American music with the songs "Lowrider", "The Cisco Kid" and "Spill The Wine", the band has also featured many influential performers over their 35+ year history including Eric Burdon and Lee Oskar, which has resulted in an enduring influence that has sold nearly 25 million records. You can expect to see Mitch reporting for duty, armed with his trusty harp and hittin' the road this year as he assumes his role as the newest member of War. http://www.wartheband.com

BACKSTAGE PASS:

Go behind the scenes with staff writer Scott Dirks as he shares inside stories and additional details on the cutting room floor regarding Delta Groove artists and releases. This months article focuses on John Long and all his recent success in 2006.

EXCERPTS FROM THE ARTICLE:
"
Of all the successes enjoyed by Delta Groove in 2006, one of the most surprising and gratifying was with John Long’s debut CD “Lost & Found”.  Long may well qualify for the longest ‘overnight sensation’ on record – after 45+ years of making music, he took the blues world by storm in 2006, earning unanimous praise from fans and critics alike for his first full-length official release.  Long’s performance schedule was curtailed somewhat late in the year when he took time off to care for his long-time friend and mentor Homesick James Williamson, and he’s kept a low profile since Williamson’s passing in early December.  But among the highlights for Long in the past year was his triumphant return to Chicago, where he spent several years on the blues scene in the early 1970s, to play the prestigious Chicago Blues Festival in June."
