A primarily self-taught guitarist, Sean Costello won the Beale Street Blues Society’s new talent award when he was only 14 years old. Costello’s impressive debut “Call the Cops” arrived in ‘96 at the tender age of 16, quickly establishing his reputation in the blues community while most other kids were out earning their driver’s licenses. In 1998, Costello contributed his tasteful lead guitar work on Susan Tedeschi’s gold-certified debut smash “Just Won’t Burn” and was also a featured member of her touring band.
In 2000, Costello released his long awaited follow up album “Cuttin’ In,” earning himself a nomination for Best New Artist Debut by the Blues Foundation in Memphis, TN. Costello has since released two additional highly praised recordings and shared the stages with many of his inspirational heroes including B.B. King, Buddy Guy, James Cotton, Pinetop Perkins and Bo Diddley. A cover story appeared in the February/March 2002 issue of Blues Revue Magazine and more recently, Costello’s talents were enlisted for the comeback recording “Long Time Coming” by ‘50s rhythm & blues pioneer Nappy Brown.
Widely recognized as a gifted and accomplished guitarist, Sean Costello now delivers his strongest and most mature effort of his career. On his Delta Groove debut, Costello further refines his approach by balancing his blistering red hot guitar work, along with soulful, confident vocals and expertly crafted songs. As the world continues to experience the loss of so many originators of the art form, you can rest assured that the future of the blues is in capable hands.
